Before you take a teaching English job in China, you should know the following items.
First, the place you want to work. China is a huge country. Every part of China has its own features and cultures. Therefore, the destination where you would like to work is very important for you to hunt a teaching English job in China. However, it’s really hard for the ESL teachers who do not know China well.
I can give you some suggestion here. First, figure out your motivation to work in China. If you want to experience Chinese culture, I recommend that you should go to small cities. If you want to learn Chinese history, I may suggest you to go the mid part of China. If you like to live an international city, I would say Beijing, shanghai, Guangzhou or Shenzhen. If you want to save some money to pay back the student loan, I would recommend that you should go to tier 3 cities, whose cost of living is lower but salary is good. Second, after you get to know where you would like to take the teaching English job in China, you need to figure out the weather you’re happy with. Then, you can select the jobs from your offers.
Second, the type of students you want to teach. If you like to teach kids, you can a teaching English job in Kindergarten. If you like to teach college students, then go to college. If you like to teach adults, you may get a job in training centers.
