English Teaching Overseas-Why to Teach in Universities

You may have many opportunities of working in China as a TEFL teacher. Since I only know well about Chinese universities, I’m talking about teaching in China. English teaching overseas is a good choice to experience Chinese culture and earn money. Now I’m giving some reasons of teaching in universities.

Teaching in universities is a very light work.
Universities usually have 12-18 classes per week, and you don’t have to stay in the office every day. You will also have summer holiday and winter holiday, mostly with pay. Sometimes, you might have one or two classes per day, and you don’t have to be present every day at 8am for the first class. It depends on the schedule.

Teaching adult students with good English foundation is easier.
University students are mostly adults, and they have mature thought and behavior. They know what they are doing. All of them have passed Gaokao(entrance exam to universities). Therefore, their English level is not very low, and it’s easier to communicate with them.

You have more free time to do whatever you want, as long as it’s legal.
Since universities don’t have a heavy workload, that leaves you a lot of time to do a part-time job or travel to different cities. Part-time jobs can help you earn more money, though universities don’t pay high.

Anyway, there are a lot of advantages about teaching in universities. Hope this helps you find a good job opportunity in English teaching overseas.
